About the Offset Archive
Statement
The ongoing collaboration seeks new methods to ‘read the city.’ Seducing the viewer into a stream of daily events, these found moments exist to punctuate the human drama in order to clarify our existence and to find poetic meaning in everyday life.
Time, space and landscape are examined in less obvious ways and sometimes developed in absurd ways. By emphasizing aesthetics, the coincidental becomes formalized, while the conscious process of composition and curation drives the seemingly random works.
Artists
The Offset Archive is an evolving collection of found images, assembled by photographer Kien Anderson and artist Paolo Ruiz.
They are both based in New York City and work as adjunct professors at the College of the Arts.
